David established David Duggleby Auctioneers and Valuers with his wife, Jane, in 1996. Originally a small enterprise in Scarborough, managed by the duo alone, the company has expanded to a large operation with locations across Yorkshire, including valuation offices in Beverley and Harrogate; our sister auction house, Duggleby Stephenson of York; and three Movers and Storers operations based in Scarborough, Hornsea and Wetherby.

David and Jane have now taken a step back from the daily operations of the business, but David still consults on fine art valuations and takes to the rostrum for our Fine Art Sales.

Charlie Ward

Charlie Ward

Head of Jewellery & Watches | Specialist Valuer & Catalogue Curator

Charlie joined our team in 2016 with a wide variety of experience in the world of art and antiques. She very quickly discovered her love for jewellery valuations, and joined our Jewellery & Watches department to develop her skills and knowledge in the specialism.

Her fascination in jewellery & watches stems from what each individual piece can say about the era in which it was made, whether antique, vintage or contemporary, as well as the quality and craftsmanship that stands the test of time:

‘In a culture where trends change at an extreme pace, jewellery & watches can transcend the precedent with timeless designs that continue to captivate. That’s why buying at auction is so special - you can find something truly unique, which can be hard these days.’

Charlie is kept busy heading up our thriving Jewellery & Watches department, as well as conducting daily valuations at our offices across Yorkshire. She loves the variety that each day brings, meeting new clients and hearing the stories behind the unique pieces she comes across.
