We’re excited to announce the launch of online-only auctions across Dugglebys – a new way to bid that’s simple, flexible and designed to give you an even better auction experience.

This update means we can now host our online-only auctions entirely through our own website. It allows us to run more sales, with everything managed in-house for a smoother, more reliable experience. There are no changes to commission rates and no additional charges for taking part – just a more convenient way to bid directly with Dugglebys.

What Is an Online-Only Auction?

Unlike our live auctions, there’s no auctioneer in the room or livestream. Everything takes place online, with each lot counting down to its own closing time. You can bid directly from the catalogue page, and each item clearly shows a timer so you can see exactly when it’s due to sell.

Our online-only catalogues go live at least two weeks before the sale date, giving you plenty of time to browse and place your bids in advance. You can also set maximum bids as usual – the system will then bid automatically on your behalf, only increasing your bid when needed to keep you in the lead.

By bidding early, you secure your interest straight away and make sure you don’t miss out – even if you’re not online when the lot closes. Early bidding also helps the auction run smoothly, with more realistic prices showing from the start – and if you’re outbid, we’ll let you know straight away, giving you time to decide whether to go higher before the lot is due to end.

How It Works

Each auction is online for a minimum of two weeks. It then has a set end time, and the first lot will begin closing from that time.

•  Every following lot closes 20 seconds after the previous one, in consecutive order.

•  If someone places a bid within the final 10 seconds, the timer will go back up to 10 seconds – giving everyone a fair chance to bid again.

•  When this happens, all the following lots are pushed back by the same amount of time, so the sale always stays in lot order.

•  The total running time of the auction depends on how much bidding activity there is in the final moments of each lot.

Taking Part

There’s no need to join a live auction – simply browse the catalogue, place your bids, and watch the timers count down as lots approach their end times.

Whether you’re a seasoned bidder or completely new to auctions, our online-only sales make it easier than ever to take part – and by getting your bids in early, you’ll never miss the items you’ve set your sights on.
