The Staithes Group

Lot 38: Robert Jobling (Staithes Group, 1841-1923) - "Preparing the Coble at Runswick Bay." This exquisite piece, rendered in watercolour and gouache, beautifully captures the serene yet industrious atmosphere of the bay, as fishermen ready their coble for the day's work. Signed by the artist, the work measures 32cm by 50cm. Estimate: £800-1,200.

Lot 19: Harold Knight (Staithes Group, 1874-1961) - "Portrait of 'William Frederick Mayor', with a Moonlit View of Staithes in the Background." A captivating oil on canvas, this portrait not only highlights Knight's mastery in rendering the human form but also subtly integrates the enchanting nocturnal landscape of Staithes behind the sitter. Signed and measuring 59cm by 49cm. Estimate: £4,000-6,000.

Lot 270: Laurence Stephen Lowry RBA RA (Northern British, 1887-1976) - "Berwick-on-Tweed." This distinguished limited edition offset lithograph in colours captures the essence of Lowry's unique vision of urban life. Signed in pencil by the artist, the work bears the Fine Art Trade Guild blindstamp and was published by the Medici Society Ltd., London, in 1973. From an edition of only 650, this lithograph measures 57cm by 46cm. Estimate: £5,000-8,000.

Lot 241: Stanisława de Karłowska (Polish, 1876-1952) - "The Garden Gate." This charming oil on canvas, signed by the artist, exudes a serene and intimate atmosphere. Titled on the gallery label verso, it measures 35cm by 30cm. The work boasts an impressive provenance, having been exhibited at Cork Street Gallery, London, in 1973, as indicated by the label verso. Estimate: £700-1,000.

Lot 215: Edward Seago (British, 1910-1974) - "Honfleur," Normandy, France. A captivating oil on board, this piece captures the timeless allure of the French coastal town. Signed by the artist and titled verso, the work measures 29cm by 39cm. Of special note is its provenance, having been gifted directly to the vendor's family by Seago himself. Estimate: £6,000-8,000.

Lot 205: John Maclauchlan Milne RSA (Scottish, 1885-1957) - "Cowan's Corner - Corrie," Isle of Arran. This exceptional oil on canvas, signed by the artist, presents a stunning depiction of the rugged charm and tranquil beauty of the Isle of Arran. Titled on the stretcher verso, the work measures 50cm by 60cm. Estimate: £8,000-12,000.
