From the family of Colonel S.C.F. Jackson, 1st Battalion Hampshire Regiment, comes a portrait by John Saint-Helier Lander, his British 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer’s Sword and more, plus a group of eight medals with their miniatures in a display case, offering a remarkable glimpse into his distinguished military service.

John Saint-Helier Lander (British 1869-1944): Colonel S.C.F Jackson, 1st Battalion Hampshire Regiment, depicted in military dress. This oil on canvas is signed and dated 1912, with the original title label verso. Estimate £400-600.

A group of eight medals and corresponding miniatures belonging to Colonel S.C.F Jackson, 1st Battalion Hampshire Regiment, presented in a display case. The medals include The Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G), the Distinguished Service Order, the India General Service Medal Burma with 1885-7 and 1887-89 clasps, the General Service Medal Africa with Somaliland 1902-04 clasps, the 1911 Coronation Medal, the 1914 Star, the British War Medal, and the Victory Medal. Estimate £2,000-3,000.

Lot Number: 3145
A British 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer’s Sword belonging to Colonel S.C.F Jackson, 1st Battalion Hampshire Regiment. The 82cm single-edged blade is engraved with "Colonel S.C.F Jackson C.M.G, D.O.S Hamps R. 1882-1920" on one side and "Brigadier A.C.F. Jackson C.V.O, C.B.E, A.D.C. (Retd) R. Hamps R. 1923-1958" on the other. The sword features a pierced guard, wired fish skin grip, leather sword knot, field service and full dress scabbards, and a travelling case. L102cm. Brigadier A.C.F. Jackson was the son of Colonel S.C.F Jackson. Estimate £300-500.

There is also a 1940 WWII German board game, Wir Kampfen gegen den Feind, alongside a rare WWII Special Forces collection relating to Sgt. Raymond William Greenley, featuring four medals from the Special Allied Airborne Reconnaissance Force.

WWII Special Forces collection relating to Sgt. Raymond William Greenley of the Special Allied Airborne Reconnaissance Force. The lot includes a set of four medals: The French and German Star, The 1939-1945 Star, Defence Medal, and War Medal, along with Parachute Regiment shoulder titles, Pegasus insignia, a soldier's release book, a safe conduct leaflet, a news article featuring Sgt. Ray Greenley's first-hand account, and other ephemera. Sgt. Ray Greenley of Newbiggin, Malton, was the first British paratrooper of the First Allied Airborne Army to be dropped east of the Rhine on 24th March 1945. Estimate £200-400.

WWII German board game, "Wir Kämpfen gegen den Feind" (We Fight Against the Enemy), manufactured by Goebel Spiele in 1940. The game includes a color-printed, foldable game board depicting the British Isles with concentric distance circles, three rotating discs, and fifteen game pieces comprising three submarines, seven bombers, and five fighter planes. It is housed in its original box. Estimate £100-200.
