Lot Number: 95 - Joseph Arnold (Hull, active 1895-1916)
'St Ellesmere with the Fleet - North Sea' a watercolour painting of a Hull steam trawler at sea, signed, inscribed, and dated 1913. Notes: Joseph Arnold, primarily known for painting trawlers in the North Sea box fleet, may have been a fisherman himself. From 1895-1899, he lived at 50 Portland Street, Hull, and from 1900-1916 at 1 Chomley Street. His works are housed in Hull Maritime Museum, with his portrait of the ST Lord Knollys in the Fisheries and Maritime Museum, Esbjerg, Denmark. Sold: £1,000.
